Australian Surfer Dude Arrested For Insider Trading

Trent Martin

33-year-old Trent Martin is the latest individual to fall in the investigation into the insider trading ring including Thomas Conradt and David Weishaus surrounding IBM’s 2009 acquisition of software company SPSS.

According to the Daily Telegraph,

Martin stands accused of using non-public information he learned from an unnamed New Zealand lawyer friend to buy up SPSS shares ahead of the highly confidential $US1.2 billion deal while working at a Stamford, Connecticut brokerage firm, allegedly pocketing $US7900 ($AU7610) from their subsequent sale.

According to the Telegraph, Martin was also a surfer and guitarist.
